- All parents want to be good parents
- All schools want students to succeed.
- All families need support in educating their children;all schools need support in meeting the needs of their individual students.
- All families can share perspectives and information about their children;all schools can share perspectives and information about their students.
- Information on child development assists both parents and educators in fulfilling their roles as teachers.
- Support programs increase the family's and the school's ability to cope rather than become dependent on an outside system.
- Families and schools are both integral parts of the community; therefore, support is provided through links with community resources and social networks.
- Families and schools will be involved if the support makes sense to them, if they have autonomy in decision-making, and if they can receive good feedback.
