Bakersfield School District uses their knowledge gained from PPP with a parent request program.  They are particularly proud of their success in using PPP materials with at risk students and their families in kindergarten through high school.

Bayless School District believes parent involvement is the key to success.  When children witness their parents participating in school activities and working in the school, they know and understand that learning is important and is valued by their family.  With PPP, Bayless has boosted its efforts to involve parents by adding parent volunteers and making character education a vital part of the school with traits chosen by the parents.  Parents formed and participate in the Mom’s Club.  The club plans and implements events such as clothing sales, Easter Egg Hunt, parade floats, and more.  The Mom’s Club is growing as parents get involved when their children are little and continue their involvement through their children’s elementary years.  Bayless operates on the belief that school should be an extension of home.  When parents and educators work together, those who benefit most are our children.  Jackie Wenzelburger accepted a bronze bell and certificate of recognition from Vickie Dickneite, PPP Resource Coordinator.

McDonald County, Rocky Comfort has had an exciting five years.  Parent participation events include Kindergarten/Pre-K screening, Afterschool programs in which parents teach classes in cooking, 4-H, photography, MAP prep and Tai Kwon Do.  Parents volunteer to help with field day events, career day, book fair, science fair and young author judging, classroom, making decorations and costumes for Christmas programs, dental health fair and walk through the digestive system.  They also invite parents to help with class parties, school carnival and fundraisers.  Two Math and Reading nights are available for families to participate in, and with the pilot of the Watch Dog program, there is a Dad in the building almost every day.

Moniteau R-V School District at Latham has been hard at work the past five years to increase parental involvement.  Various activities planned by the school include Fall and Spring Festivals with a planning committee for each.  The school is very small, so these Festivals take the place of monthly grade level family activities.  Family members as well as community patrons are encouraged to attend these festivals, which revolve around a theme.  All learning activities, decorations and crafts tie the theme together.  The school sends monthly newsletters with tips for parents, and a parent resource center is available in the school’s main foyer with information on a variety of topics.
