2008 - A Great Place to Work Award Winner
March 06, 2008
PlatoR-V School District
What makes your district a great place to work? Plato boasts a close-knit community where everyone knows and supports one another and holds you accountable to each other and the students. Teachers new to the district are motivated and encouraged by seasoned teachers, and the administration from the top down knows the names of its employees and students. There is a genuine concern for the students, and parents are always welcome to discuss their child’s educational needs with the school. The school, families, and community work together to better the education and conditions for students. “We are a smaller district (with) . . . the ability to keep better lines of communication with parents and between teachers/faculty.” The community is open to hear the needs of the teachers and students as well.
By boosting their efforts with parents and in the community, Plato has seen positive results. Higher MAP scores, higher parent/teacher conference participation, steady gains in school attendance, and gaining partners in education from the community are a testament to these efforts. In 2007, Plato R-V earned a Distinction in Performance Award from the Missouri Department of Education based on MAP scores, ACT scores, attendance and graduation rates, and advanced and career education courses offered.
MSIP questionnaire data showed that 100% of the teachers at Plato R-V believe that parents are viewed as partners in the educational process. They provide regular communications to parents about their children’s progress, and believe in student accountability. Every single teacher at Plato R-V agreed that there is good communication between teachers and students.
Because of their good working relationships, open communication, and positive support with its families and community, we at PPP are pleased to recognize the Plato R-V School District with the 2008 Great Place to Work Award.
