What is Practical Parenting Partnerships?
March 18, 2008
PPP is a comprehensive approach to parent involvement in schools, created in 1992 by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. PPP offers a framework for building home-school-community relationships through training, a variety of resources, networking, technical assistance, monthly newsletters and other professional development opportunities. PPP works with nearly one-half of Missouri’s school districts as well as districts and agencies in 11 other states and Canada to promote and strengthen the role that families play in student academic achievement. PPP is recognized as a leader in education in Missouri and is a recipient of the Missouri Primary Education Award.
What does
PPP provide your school?
PPP programs and services can be used to meet the goals
outlined:
• In your district and school improvement plan (i.e., NCLB, MO CSIP, individual reading plans, etc.)
• In other federal and state legislation, such as Missouri’s Senate Bill 480, that requires schools to have parent involvement policies and plans in place.
• In a variety of prevention efforts and character education programs.
Increasing parent involvement in their children’s education can enhance your school climate, boost school attendance, lower discipline problems, and raise test scores.
