Annual Conference: Great Place to Work Award

2004 - A Great Place to Work Award Winner

March 06, 2008

Northeast Randolph Co. R-IV

Last year two teachers retired from Northeast Randolph after 31 years.  So where are they now?  Both are back, teaching part-time.  The Superintendent came planning to stay three years; she’s been there twenty.  The building principals are the new-kids-on-the-block; they’ve only been around the last nineteen years.

Rain or shine, a likely place to find Superintendent Marge Gibson is at the crosswalk, escorting children to and from school.

Every district in Missouri offers Professional Development for teachers.  At Northeast Randolph, bus drivers, cooks and custodians all work toward professional growth.  The district believes everyone is crucial for success.

The measures of success are: a 96% attendance rate; a stellar graduation rate; and two thirds of the middle and high school students making the Honor Roll.  The elementary students scored way above the state average in math, reading, science, and social studies.  Over half of those 3rd and 4th graders scored in the Advanced and Proficient categories on each MAP test.

With results like that, no wonder it can sound like a mutual admiration society.  Ask teachers about working at Northeast Randolph and they say good people come and stay because the administrators are fair, and good listeners.  Ask parents and they say the school cares about their children.  Parents put their money where their heart is: the last levy increase and bond issue both passed by over 80%.  Who fixed up the playground?  Parents.

At Northeast Randolph everyone pulls together, making the district a great place to work and a great place to learn.

Accepting the 2004 Great Place to Work Award are Superintendent Marge Gibson and PPP Coordinator Ellen Miller.
