St. Joseph School District
The district recently opened two new daycare centers. A number of elementary sites offer before and after school care. The district's package of benefits reflects a desire to assist the entire family. Health and life insurance policies extend to dependents and cafeteria plan deductions increase the effective take-home pay of employees. District staff is encouraged to seek professional growth opportunities. For example, the principal and staff at Eugene Field are pioneering the use of multiple intelligence principles in a cooperative learning environment. The district appreciates the efforts of employees. Each year the district recognizes a Teacher of the Year, Support Person of the Year, and Administrator of the Year. Genuine concern for teaching staff translates into low employee turnover. The average teacher in St. Joseph has been with the district for almost seventeen years. The St. Joseph district knows parents are crucial to their children's educational success and financially supports the work of parent involvement coordinators at five elementary buildings. Promoting family-friendly policies, providing avenues for professional growth, and recognizing the contributions of employees are fundamental to the operating philosophy of the St. Joseph School District.
